Backup Tape Forensics 09-22-2010 - Mr. Michael Harvey High Tech Crime Investigators Association 
Mr. Michael Harvey, Manager of Forensics Research at Avansic, will be presentating an hour-long talk on Backup Tape Forensics. There are an increasing number of forensic situations that require tape recovery and analysis since companies utilize these systems to comply with various regulatory and statutory requirements. The ability to perform digital forensics investigations on storage tapes is an important tool in any forensics professional’s arsenal, and a thorough understanding of the situations and techniques where these storage devices will appear can help alleviate some of the inevitable issues. This presentation summarizes the main challenges to magnetic tape storage forensics and includes two case studies.
