Macintosh Plist Files
09-21-2010 - Mr. Michael Harvey
High Tech Crime Investigators Association
Mr. Michael Harvey, Avansic's Manager of Forensics Research, will be giving a presentation on Macintosh Plist Files. Macintosh plist files contain valuable information for digital forensics investigators. Ubiquitous in Macintosh computer systems, plists are the storage technique for file, object, and other properties. However, the current GUI interface for analyzing these lists is confusing at best.

Currently, Apple supplies the user with Plist Edit Pro for plist analysis. However, this program is not built for use in the digital forensics field. This presentation will cover research into the creation of a forensics-friendly GUI application that allows for extensive analysis of important plist files, sorting capabilities, exporting, and a presentable format.
