Avansic's President and CEO, Dr. Gavin W. Manes, was recently quoted in the Law Technology News article "E-Discovery Pricing Strikes Back." This article was written after a large response to Mr. Koblentz's first article on "The Dark Side of E-Discovery Pricing." As he says at the beginning, "pricing is a real problem and everyone knows it."

Dr. Manes was mentioned in the following excerpt:

"Gavin Manes, CEO of Avansic, said he charges customers $200 per gigabyte for processing. However, "It also it depends on what gigabyte you are talking about, and that's where a lot of the trickery comes in. One of the biggest tricks in e-discovery is most vendors double-charge for email," he noted. For example, he said, vendors will charge to process a 2 MB Microsoft Outlook .msg file, and then charge again to process the message's compressed attachment. "People get double-charged for email and don't even know," he stated."
