![]() Director of Professional Services (based in New Orleans, LA) (504) 335-0820 tom.oconnor@avansic.com Mr. O’Connor will be the primary consultant for complex cases and in that role will provide professional services supporting data identification and preservation with an emphasis on litigation hold obligations and preparation for the FRCP Rule 26(f) meet and confer. Tom will also be instrumental in developing strategies for corporate clients in all markets to help them be more proactive in controlling their e-discovery costs. Based in New Orleans, Tom is a nationally recognized consultant, speaker, and writer in the area of computerized litigation support systems. He is best known for his work in e-discovery, which includes assisting firms and corporate counsel in matters of retention policies, litigation holds, and document exchange protocols. He has worked on a number of high-profile cases including asbestos litigation, the Keating case, California class actions against crematoriums, tobacco litigation on behalf of the Attorney General of Texas, and various phases of the Enron and BP litigation. Tom is a frequent lecturer on the subject of legal technology and writes extensively on the topic, with numerous articles in legal publications and several books, including “Ediscovery for Small Cases”, soon to be released from the American Bar Association. Joe Mulenex ![]() Regional Technical Director - Midwest (based in Dallas, TX) (214) 431-5679 joe.mulenex@avansic.com As a Regional Technical Director, Joe Mulenex oversees the expansion of Avansic into additional markets and manages all resulting business development for those markets. Mulenex has more than 15 years experience in information technology, operations and product delivery in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining the Avansic team, Mulenex served 10 years at CVS Caremark as director of operations. Among his responsibilities were systems management, Medicare operations and enrollment administration. Mulenex also held positions as senior business analyst, retail application development and support manager, and operations manager. Rod Baker Director of General Investigations Rod Baker has extensive experience in the field of investigation and criminology having served as an agent with the U.S. Courts and the U.S. Department of Justice from 1974 to 1999. He has 30 years experience in conducting complex criminal investigations, Baker has worked as a District Attorney’s Investigator in the state of Oklahoma and as a federal agent in the Northern District of Oklahoma and the Western District of Missouri. Since Baker’s retirement from the U.S. Government, he has amassed more than nine years experience as a legal investigator assisting attorneys in complex civil and criminal matters. Baker is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Special Investigator under contract with the Department of Defense, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. |
